While the band is often thought of as a side-project of Portal, Impetuous Ritual was actually formed before both Omenous Fugue and Ignis Fatuus joined. Blight Upon Martyred Sentience, their third full-length, is as impenetrable as their first two, while advancing in the only way they couldgetting even more extreme. The title of the third record by Australian death metal sorcerers, Impetuous Ritual, merits contemplation.
